My hope and intention as I begin this blog is to give a thoughtful, considered response to world events, deep discussions and personal circumstances. I hope it will be encouraging, challenging, informative and edifying to those that read it. I by no means intend to be a self-proclaimed expert, but I do want to share my thoughts in the global marketplace of ideas.

History Lesson
So President Bush shared in his trip to Vietnam that one of the lessons learned from that war was, "We'll succeed unless we quit." What? That's the lesson we learned in Vietnam? I am not an expert in the Vietnam war, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't the primary lesson that we learned. Then again, maybe President Bush didn't know that since he was never there.

I think I'm in a state of shock. Did Steven J. Lamp just knock the president's war record? Surely not!
I could generally look over teh fact that he didn't serve in the war, but it frustrated me that he made what seems to be such a foolish statement. If John McCain had said it while on that trip, perhaps I would have read it differently because he has a greater authority to speak on the war given his personal experiences.
