Service Engine Soon
Uh-oh. For the first time in its life, my venerable Saturn had the "Service Engine Soon" light come on as I was leaving work tonight. It seemed to be running well so I am not sure what is ailing it. I hope it's something small. It made it essentially problem free for the first 81,000 miles so I can't complain. Go little Saturn.

I found this on a Saturn owner forum:
"Go to your local parts store a have them connect to it and tell you what codes it sends most of the time they will do it for free."
Unless, of course, you have a mechanic you trust enough to take their word on what the problem is.
Also, you should check that your gas cap is tightened three turns - apparently less than three turns causes the light to go off. It also could be caused by bad gas or you need an oil change or a loose seatbelt harness. But apparently the loose gas cap is the most common problem for saturns.
If you had a foreign car, you wouldn't have this problem...

My wife's civic ran afoul of that ripped up a bunch of weather sealing around her wheel wells. She was not happy.
